First-class accommodation with a famous castle as your next-door neighbour – Blair Castle Caravan Park offers everyone a warm welcome
You don’t get awarded 4-star VisitScotland rating and the accolade of AA Campsite of the Year for nothing. You’ve got to work for it – and that hard work seems to be part of the ethos of Blair Castle Caravan Par. But as Julia Sim, the park’s head of sales and marketing knows, you can’t rest too long on your laurels.
“We are continually renewing and upgrading our facilities to meet these high standards,” she says. “This year we have upgraded shower blocks, installed electric car charging points, upgraded some of our touring pitches and introduced new supersized pitches to meet with the changing market needs.
The holiday park centres round 3.6 hectares (9 acres) in the shadow of beautiful Blair Castle, and at capacity can accommodate 51 hard-standing fully-serviced pitches, 72 grass pitches (37 with electricity), 35 hard-standing electric pitches and an additional 32 camping pitches adjacent to the park.
“On top of that, we have 84 residential pitches, eight wooden camping pods and 11 woodland lodges. That means we can offer lots of choices for our customers.”
Working in tandem with Blair Castle gives the park an advantage over others – ready-made customers! “There are various events that happen over the year at the Castle that the park is always full for them such as the Gathering weekend in the May and the Horse Trials which run from August 22-15.”
“The Castle also has beautiful gardens to explore and the estate offers 50 miles of marked walking trails right on the doorstep of the park.”
Julia has noticed a trend from caravans to towards motorhomes. “We have seen a huge increase in motorhomes coming to the park,” she adds. “It has always been popular due to its location – the perfect stop on the way to the Highlands – however an influx of rental motorhomes from companies in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and, of course, England have dramatically increased our numbers. That is why we are constantly upgrading and changing our pitches to make sure it suits all comers.”
